A Young Hero in Flame

Kesz is not your ordinary kid. Yes, he is active and fun loving like every normal 10 year old but his heart is burning. It is burning with passion to help and bursting with love for others.

Kesz has this project since he turned seven, to give slippers and toys to street kids during his birthday and Christmastime. He started with 7 kids then planned to add one per year. He saves money by selling candies at school, church and gatherings which funds his simple cause but things changed when he was turned 9. He emptied his piggy upon knowing that his teacher’s mother was 50/50. He wrote her a letter telling her to use his savings to save her mother and to remind her that God answers every prayer. When people learned of his act of kindness, everyone pledged to pitch in slippers. He collected more than he could wrap so he donated the excess to a cause he so loved. This December he’ll be turning eleven so since January he saved more in his big can. But tragedy struck one fateful Saturday when many houses and belongings of people were washed away. So he emptied his can and put everything in a box and he brought everything to donate to a cause.

But Kesz burning passion was a change of heart. He grew up in the dump site and was scavenging for food. He sleeps inside open tombs in the cemetery frightened not by ghosts
nor darkness, but by the wrath of his father who beats them at night. When he was 5, because of a stampede that happened in the arrival of a garbage-loaded truck, he was pushed to a pile of burning rubber which resulted deep burns in his arms and back. Left without help he was brought to the clinic and was later housed in a shelter. There he learned about forgiveness, about love, about Jesus, about how important everyone is.

Kesz has been the youngest volunteer of the Kariton Klasrum when he turned six. He demonstrates hand washing, bathing, brushing teeth and hygiene. He also learned to treat simple wounds and give first aid to every kid who needed help. Though his burnt scars remain, but his burning desire and passion to help leaves an imprint in the lives of other children.
